What is a Musical Revue and What is Time Warp About?

Time Warp, A Musical Revue

-         A musical revue is a compilation of musical numbers held together by some sort of theme or common thread.

-         The theme for Time Warp is we will “warp” through time performing musical numbers from Broadway and the movies, which span many decades (the time period may be when the show played on Broadway or in the theater, or the time period in which the show or movie was set).

-         One or more MC’s will navigate us through the decades – with a comedic twist….

-         There will be big production numbers, as well as solos, duets, and small ensemble numbers.  There will be numbers with advanced choreography, as well as numbers for exceptional vocalists… and lots in between.

-         A revue gives many an opportunity to shine.  You may be the soloist in one number, and a back up dancer is another.

-         We hope to include dialogue leading into some of the musical numbers.

Following are a few of the numbers we have planned:

-         The Time Warp (from The Rocky Horror Picture Show… ask your parents about that one….)

-         A medley of songs from Grease

-         Cool – West Side Story

-         Hello 12, Hello 13 – A Chorus Line

-         Defying Gravity – Wicked

-         Staying Alive – Saturday Night Fever

-         One Night Only – Dream Girls

Everyone is always encouraged to audition.

No Experience is necessary!
"I can’t act!", you say. But a theater has many other slots to fill before a production is ready for an audience. Some are: build sets;  write publicity; box office; design programs; ushers; work on the Newsletter; props; costumes;  and on and on and on. So come and find out more about this fun and fulfilling community group!

So what happens when you come?
You'll be asked to read a scene or multiple scenes from the play with several other actors.

Very Important - Bring a list of dates (conflicts) when you will not be available to rehearse.

If you are not cast on your first attempt, don't be discouraged. There are lots of reasons director's cast a show the way they do and you may have an opportunity in another show.
