BREWSTER, NY – The Brewster Theater Company announces its presentation of Neil
Simon’s hilarious farce, Rumors. The show will be performed at the Brewster
High School on Foggintown Road in Brewster, NY. Show dates are October 6th,
7th, 12th, and 14th. Curtain is at 8pm each night. Tickets are $13; seniors and
students pay $10.
“Neil Simon's RUMORS is sure to be a crowd pleaser”, says producer Marie
Gelston. At the helm is director Brian DeToma who has many years of directing
local community theater under his belt. "This is a great cast with great
timing" ...just what's needed for this fast paced comedy of misunderstandings
and mishaps.
An evening of wild, fast-paced hilarity ensues when the deputy mayor of New York
City and his wife throw an elegant 10th anniversary party that never begins
because…SHHHH! …..the host has shot himself in the earlobe (it's only a flesh
wound) and his wife is missing. The explanations get wilder as each of the four
invited couples tries to hide the facts from the next arriving guests. But what
are the facts? Two police officers arrive on the scene, and the ultimate tall
tale is revealed. But is it all just a rumor?
“BTC chose this Neil Simon piece as its fall 2006 show because it is just
downright enjoyable”, according to Debbie Levin, President of Brewster Theater
Company. “It is definitely one of Simon’s most hilarious creations….fun to
watch, fun to perform….all in all making for a great night out!”
Playing the four couples are Gary McNerney (Poughquag, NY), Jody Bayer (Danbury,
CT), Peter Lerman (Bethel, CT), Lori Franzese (Carmel, NY), Steve Yudelson
(Newtown, CT), Rachel Goer (Carmel, NY), John Schlick (Carmel, NY) and Lauren
Castelli (Mamaroneck, NY). Greg Chadwick (Pawling, NY) and Abby Jennings (Shrub
Oak, NY) play the officers.
The show is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
This event is made possible, in part, with public funds from the New York State
Council on the Arts Decentralization Program. In Putnam County the
Decentralization Program is administered by the Putnam Arts Council.
