Time Warp: A Musical Revue

Time Warp: A Musical Revue

Audiences should be prepared to fasten their seatbelts as The Brewster Theater Company takes them on a lively trip through the past 10 decades of Broadway musicals on August 14, 15, and 16 at 7:30 pm at The Brewster High School Performing Arts Center.

With an all-teen cast, Time Warp is a musical revue that offers a blend of Broadway tunes from the classic (The King and I) to the contemporary (Hairspray).  Selections focus on upbeat songs that are fast-paced and designed to get audiences toes tapping.  Humorous moments are interspersed throughout that poke good-natured fun of darker musicals such as Les Miserables

Drawing on the success of Fame the Musical in the summer of 2006, BTC was keen on producing another teen musical. The idea of a musical revue was conceived around the dining room table when director Regina Sweeney and producer Jeane Stein met to discuss show options.  The song ‘Time Warp’ from The Rocky Horror Picture Show was mentioned and Sweeney, who admits to a fascination with time travel, was struck with the idea of doing a musical journey through Broadway shows past and present.

The talented cast of young people includes Brewster residents Ben Bisogno, Rose Bisogno, Antonia Carey , Danielle Duncan, Peter Esser, Andre Faivre, Genevieve Faivre, Marianne Faivre, Jackie Jakaj, Lilly Jakaj, Michelle LaRusso, Nicole LaRusso, Courtney Kelly, Kaitlyn Kelly, Kevin Kelly, Jessica Matrejek, Justin Pizzani, , Alysia Radak, Melissa Ridenour,  Samantha Roche, Stephanie Rubino, Kathryn Silverstein, Mark Stein, Stephanie Talerico, and Alex Venuti.  Brittany Patchey of Pawling, Emma Burke-Covitz and Nicole Spangenberger of Carmel, and Stephen Pound of Mahopac are also part of the cast.  Connecticut teens who are participating in the show are Liz Brady, Kevin Dutton, and Shannon Gaffney of New Fairfield, Jessica Baker and Venessa Trofa of Danbury, and Steven Taliaferro of Bethel.

The show is choreographed by Sweeney and Carrie DeMilio, who is the owner of Taps ‘N Toes, a Brewster dance school.  Musical Director is Angeline Brown, a musical therapist and Carmel resident with extensive theatrical experience.

The Brewster High School Performing Arts Center is located at 50 Foggintown Road, Brewster, NY 10509.  Tickets are $18/adults and $13/seniors and students.  To make reservations, log onto www.brewstertheatercompany.org or call 845-598-1621.
